Neuro-Ophthalmology, Oculoplastic, and Orbital Surgery Fellowship (One Year)

The one-year Neuro-Ophthalmology, Oculoplastic, and Orbital Surgery Fellowship Program provides outstanding hands-on experience in the medical and surgical management of difficult neuro-ophthalmology, oculoplastic, and orbital cases in adults, adolescents, and children.

Surgical procedures performed by the participant as primary surgeon include the entire spectrum of neuro-ophthalmic, oculoplastics, and orbital surgery cases. The participant will spend time between four faculty preceptors who have busy private practices.

There is structured interaction with residents in a very busy, high-volume program that uses Parkland Hospital and Children’s Health? Children’s Medical Center, and John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. In addition, the preceptors admit private patients to Zale Lipshy University Hospital and William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. All hospitals have fully equipped operating rooms.

Clinics and operating rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology, including Humphrey visual field analyzers, Heidelberg Retina Topography, Optical Coherence Tomography, high-speed neurosurgical drills for orbit surgery, full surgical endoscopy capabilities, Bran-Lab Imaging, and Sonopet. Typically, previous years indicate that the participant performed more than 500 cases as primary surgeon.
