Chapters Transcript Video LCE 2020: Dr. Jaime Almandox being a doctor for me is not just about writing prescriptions and writing notes, it's about helping people to lead healthier, better lives. Obesity is one of the biggest healthcare challenges we currently face, Not just because of the high prevalence of excess body weight, but because of the challenges in knowing what to do to help control your weight. When many of our patients come to us instead of having lost weight in the past, they've lost hope. They don't just want to lose weight, but they want a better quality of life. What I hope they leave our visit with is a sense of empowerment and optimism that we can help them to make the changes that they want to make. It's incredibly rewarding to work at UT Southwestern because of the incredibly collegial environment that the university has. It's about educating future health care providers, it's about creating research and new knowledge to help people, helping people to make the changes that are right for their health and their body is a very rewarding experience and I think it's a real privilege to be on that journey with them Created by
