UTSW Simmons Cancer Center Welcomes New Deputy Director for Clinical Affairs

UT Southwestern welcomes Jason B. Fleming, M.D., FACS, as Deputy Director for Clinical Affairs of the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center. An internationally recognized surgical oncologist specializing in the treatment of pancreatic cancer, Dr. Fleming rejoins UT Southwestern from the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fla., where he was Chair of Gastrointestinal Oncology.

Dr. Fleming is no stranger to Texas. He completed his clinical residency in general surgery at UT Southwestern and a fellowship in cancer research at our Nancy B. and Jake L. Hamon Center for Therapeutic Oncology. He also spent six years as an Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at UT Southwestern. In addition, Dr. Fleming previously served as Professor and Chief of Pancreas Surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston as well as Executive Director of Perioperative Services and co-Director of MD Anderson’s Pancreatic Cancer Moon Shot Program.

At Simmons Cancer Center Dr. Fleming will direct all clinical operations and drive strategies to advance innovative, patient-centered cancer care. He will also promote and further establish Simmons Cancer Center as a national leader in multidisciplinary, evidence-based patient care, cancer clinical trials, and novel treatment approaches.
