Leadership Announcement: UT Southwestern Appoints New Director of Interventional Pulmonology

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Frye, M.D., as Director of Interventional Pulmonology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Previously an academic interventional pulmonologist at the University of Utah, where she specialized in thoracic oncology and transplant programs, Dr. Frye now brings her expertise to our nationally recognized Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine program, seeing patients through the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center.

As the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in North Texas, Simmons Cancer Center is uniquely positioned to deliver innovative, multidisciplinary care supported by leading-edge research and clinical trials. Her prior experience in multicenter clinical trials in IP provides the perfect environment for the development and implementation of research to advance the field of IP.

Dr. Frye brings extensive experience in complex airway disease, lung cancer, and minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures, along with a strong commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Her appointment reflects UT Southwestern’s continued commitment to building an integrated model of care that brings together experts across pulmonary medicine, thoracic surgery, radiology, oncology, and other specialties, allowing patients to move more efficiently from diagnosis to treatment, reducing delays, and ensuring timely access to advanced therapies and minimally invasive procedures.

UT Southwestern’s unified approach to lung care continues to set a new standard for excellence in the region, and we are confident Dr. Frye will make a tremendous impact on our program and the patients we serve.
