I chose Ut Southwestern because of its clinical care excellence, its scientific investigational discoveries. It's at the forefront. Ut Southwestern has a truly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment within the Psychiatry Basic Neuroscience Division. We are studying diverse aspects of Basic neuroscience, from molecules and neuro circuits to human brain function. Ut Southwestern is different in that. It really focuses on education, research and clinical care. At the center of all of that is trying to come up with the best outcomes for patients. Ut South system has a strong emphasis in both basic and the aspect of the research as well as the neuroscience community. It's a team effort in psychiatry. I'm able to collaborate with great doctors and staff members to develop new and innovative approaches to care. Trans internal magnetic simulation is a form of noninvasive brain stimulation technology. Our team has been studying this treatment for the past two decades and have advanced its use in the treatment of depression and are working on its use now to treat other aspects of cognitive difficulties such as memory impairment and dementia. My lab studies, the touch and pain pathways. We are particularly interested in studying how this system works to convey a variety of sensory signals to the brain and how the system is altered in the disease states and how this complex Asy system is formed and wired during development. And I really hope that my research may reveal new therapeutic strategies for treating disorders associated with pain and touch. The transitional age Youth program or the TAY program serves patients 17 to 27 with serious mental illness who are at risk for transition as they age out of pediatric care into adult care. Our project focuses not just on reducing depression and anxiety, but we have a educational vocational component as well. Our goal is to retain people and to increase service utilization. The neuro mechanism for episodic memory formation consists of the where when what and my lab is focusing on how brain integrate this information and the ongoing progress. With a clinical assistant scientist, we found a molecule that may contribute to the preventing the Alzheimer's disease. At Ut Southwestern. The Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium is part of the division of child and adolescent psychiatry. The consortium is a program funded by the Texas legislature to provide increased services for Children and adolescents that have psychiatric and behavioral health needs. In addition, we provide care to Children and adolescents through inpatient consultation and outpatient programs. We're on the cutting edge of different treatments and collaborations and that's something that really makes Ut Southwestern special being at UT Southwestern has allowed me to create and implement this clinic where I wouldn't have been able to do it anywhere else. The support we've had has really just put my dreams into reality. The opportunities the collaboration, the support we get from Ut Southwestern allows us to be better physicians with the different multidiscipline that we have. We have an incredible team here to take science from the bench and bring it to the bedside. This is the place where if you dream it, you can make it a reality. Created by
