Vivyenne Roche, MD

Program Director, Geriatrics Fellowship Program

Vivyenne Roche, MD

Vivyenne Roche, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center. A specialist in geriatric medicine, her interests include memory disorders, helping patients maintain or improve their functional status, polypharmacy, and quality improvement.

Dr. Roche earned her medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. She completed residencies in internal medicine at Dublin, Ireland; at Perth, Western Australia; at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver; and at UT Southwestern. She received advanced training in geriatric medicine through a fellowship at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in geriatric medicine, she joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1999.

A Distinguished Teaching Professor, Dr. Roche serves as Director of the Geriatric Care Center Clinic at UT Southwestern. In addition, she is the Course Director of Frontiers in Aging, a one-month selective block rotation for fourth-year medical students; Director of UT Southwestern Home Health Care; and Director of the UTSW Geriatrics Fellowship Program.

She is a Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society, serving nationally as a member of its Ethnogeriatrics Committee and its Ethics Committee, as well as Co-Chair of its Quality Indicators Subcommittee. She is also a member of the Association of Directors of Geriatric Academic Programs and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

Dr. Roche has delivered countless invited lectures, contributed to the book Geriatric Urology, and published multiple academic articles.

In 2016, she was elected to the UT Southwestern Academy of Teachers. In 2019, she was elected to the UT Kenneth I. Shine, M.D., Academy of Health Science Education.
