Yu-Guang He, MD

Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program

Yu-Guang He, MD

Yu‐Guang He, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, where he also serves as Director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship Program. He specializes in retina and vitreous diseases, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.

Dr. He earned his medical degree at Tongji Medical University in Wuhan, China. He completed a research fellowship and an ophthalmology residency at UT Southwestern before receiving advanced training through a fellowship in ​surgical and medical retina at the University of Washington affiliated hospitals. 

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. He joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2001. 

The author of numerous papers, book chapters, and presentations, Dr. He is an internationally invited lecturer on vitreoretinal diseases and macular degeneration. He holds the Josephine Long Biddle Chair in Age-Related Macular Degeneration Research and the Zora Meagher Macular Degeneration Research Professorship. 

Dr. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Texas Chinese Physicians Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the Texas Ophthalmological Association.

Dr. He has been named both a D Magazine Best Doctor and a Texas Monthly Super Doctor.
