David Weakley, MD
Ophthalmology
David Robert Weakley Jr., M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He serves as the Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus.
Dr. Weakley earned his medical degree at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed a residency in ophthalmology at UT Southwestern and received advanced training in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus through a fellowship at Children’s National Health System in Washington, D.C.
Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Weakley joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1989.
Dr. Weakley is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, the American Ophthalmologic Society, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the Costenbader Society, the Dallas County Medical Society, the Pan-American Association of Ophthalmology, the Texas Medical Association, the Texas Ophthalmological Association, and the Texas Society of Pediatric Ophthalmologists.
He is the author of numerous academic papers, letters, and book chapters and is a national and international lecturer on ophthalmology research. He serves as a reviewer for multiple publications, including American Journal of Ophthalmology, Archives of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, Ophthalmic Epidemiology, Ophthalmology, and Pediatrics.
Dr. Weakley has been named both a D Magazine Best Doctor and a Texas Monthly Super Doctor.
