Purpose and Content
What’s New in GI will provide attendees with practical information that can be applied today in their clinical practice. Discussions will include the latest updates on recognizing symptoms and using current data to establish diagnoses and formulate appropriate treatment plans for the management of gastrointestinal diseases. Several topics will be presented at this one-day symposium through lectures and Q&A session for UT Southwestern experts in the field of gastroenterology. This course is designed for gastroenterologists, GI surgeons, internal medicine physicians, family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other health care providers with an interest in gastroenterology.


Learning Objectives
1. Describe the benefits of different medications and when to select in treating IBD.
2. Identify diagnosis methods and treatment options for gastroparesis.
3. Explain practical approaches to constipation.
4. Explain the new guidelines on exocrine pancreatic insufficiency.
5. Explain new and relevant updates in the treatment of IBD.

Accreditation and Credit Designation Statements
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Texas Medical Association (TMA) and the UT Southwestern Department of Internal Medicine: Division of Digestive and Liver. The Texas Medical Association is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Texas Medical Association designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.25 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of this participation in the activity.

ABIM MOC Credit
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.


Evaluations and Certificates
Course evaluations addressing program content, presentations, and possible biases will be available at the conference. Evaluations are an important tool for assessing the effectiveness of this activity as well as for planning future activities. We value your feedback.

Your CME attendance will be documented in your TMA profile portal at the conclusion of the conference.

Maintenance of Certification
To claim ABIM MOC part 2 credit, participants will receive a link to the post conference test via email at the conclusion of the conference. A passing score of 75% is required to pass the post-test. This component must be completed by May 1, 2024, to receive credit.
